The Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) course by the American Heart Association, offered through Alliance Coastal Education LLC, is designed for healthcare providers directly involved in the resuscitation of a patient in a critical medical setting. The course combines didactic lectures and hands-on sessions simulating adult care in cardiovascular and neurological emergencies.
The ACLS course emphasizes:
- The importance of quality CPR and basic life support for patient survival
- Early management of peri-arrest conditions
- Managing cardiac arrest
- Identifying and treating ischemic chest pain and acute coronary syndromes
- Recognizing other life-threatening clinical situations, such as stroke, and providing initial care
- Understanding and applying ACLS algorithms
- Building effective resuscitation team dynamics
Please note that all participants must hold a current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification to take part in this course. Participants may complete the Online Heartsaver® BLS for Healthcare Providers course before class and be tested on BLS skills in class to receive a new BLS certification card that matches their ACLS certification expiration date.

To certify, students must proficiently demonstrate skills and achieve a score of 84% or higher on the written examination. If students do not meet these requirements, they will be remediated and given an additional attempt to test.
